May one see it?
London, United Kingdom
It belongs to the collection, but is not on display at present.
This statuette of a seated female figure was made by an unknown artist in Florence or Rome in the late 16th century. It was perhaps the top of a small fire-dog. The marks on the hands and knee suggest that this is an almost untouched cast from the wax model which seems to have been slightly damaged at these points.
This is one of a pair, the other living in the Boymans van Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam.
