London, United Kingdom
It belongs to the collection, but is not on display at present.
A study of a gondolier wearing a yellow-brown long coat, breeches, stockings and matching cap, inclined at the waist with left arm extended. This work is part of an album of fifty-three sketches by Carlevarijs which includes figures he appears to have painted in the open air in preparation for insertion into formal compositions. This figure reappears for example on a gondola at the far left of The Molo, Looking West now in a private collection.
