May one see it?
London, United Kingdom
It belongs to the collection, but is not on display at present.
This statuette in ivory is made in the first half of the 17th century, probably in Germany, although the classicizing features may imply an Italian origin. It represents a naked boy holding a fish with both arms over his left shoulder. He is standing on a rocky base. Perhaps it once formed the knop of the lid of a tankard or similar vessel.
