Teaches at the Accademia di San Luca and the French Academy
From 1719 he teaches at the Accademia di San Luca in Rome and at the French Academy in Rome (other accounts say the Royal Academy of Painting in Paris). In his Roman studio work the French painters Hubert Robert and Jean-Honoré Fragonard, whom he is said to have influenced, as well as his sons Francesco and Giuseppe.

He is elected princeps (president) of the Accademia di San Luca. Other accounts say he served as its head as early as 1754.
