For this portrait of fashion designer St. Laurent, Cosindas used Polacolor film that developed instantly, allowing her to see and adjust the density of colors with a variety of filters during the sitting. Set against a vivid red backdrop, St. Laurent cuts a formidable figure in his freshly ironed pink silk shirt. An enlargement of this photograph, made the year his first boutique in New York opened, graced the walls of that store for ten years.
