Im Leben von Paolo Veronese

Das ganze Leben
  1. after 1580

The family workshop increasingly works without his hand

Veronese headed a family workshop: his brother Benedetto, his sons Carlo and Gabriele, and his nephew Luigi Benfatto. According to Nicholas Penny, the workshop's role grew steadily, and after 1580 it is rare that one can be confident that Veronese was the sole hand involved.

  2. 1588

A fever and death in Venice

In 1588 Veronese caught a fever and died a few days later. His brother and sons arranged for him to be buried in the church of San Sebastiano, whose decoration he had worked on for so long.
