Im Leben von Félix Edouard Vallotton
Das ganze Lebenafter 1918
Winters in Cagnes-sur-Mer, summers in Honfleur
After the war Vallotton concentrated on still lifes, “composite landscapes” built in the studio from memory and imagination, and frankly erotic nudes. Dogged by ill health, he and his wife spent their winters at Cagnes-sur-Mer in Provence, where they bought a small house, and their summers at their house in Honfleur.
1925
Cancer surgery
Years of ill health ended in cancer surgery in Paris; Vallotton died the day after his sixtieth birthday (some accounts place his death in Neuilly-sur-Seine). Over his life he produced more than 1,700 paintings and some 200 prints.
