Über das Werk

This drawing is an illustration for the book Clara Button and the Magical Hat Day by Amy de la Haye and illustrated by Emily Sutton. The book is set in the Victoria and Albert Museum and was published in 2011. It captures the moment when Clara's brother Ollie, after skate boarding into the room and through Clara's collection of buttons, decides to pull Granny Elsie's hat from the top of a bookcase.

Emily Sutton was born in Yorkshire and graduated with a B.A.(Hons.) in Illustration from Edinburgh College of Art in 2008. She specialises in illustration of children's books and draws her inspiration from 20th century illustrators and the tradition of folk art.
