Im Leben von Nan Goldin

Das ganze Leben
  1. 1986–1998

Her pictures in other people's films

In “Working Girls” (1986) the photographs attributed to the heroine Molly are Goldin's; in Mary Harron's “I Shot Andy Warhol” (1996) she is credited with “special photography”. The photographs of the heroine of Lisa Cholodenko's “High Art” (1998) are based on her work.

  2. 2000

    A hand injury

She injures her hand and since then has had less ability to handle a camera.

  3. 2001

Exhibition at the Centre Pompidou: “Le Feu Follet”

Her exhibition “Le Feu Follet / The Devil's Playground” opens at the Centre Pompidou in Paris and then travels to the Whitechapel Gallery in London, the Reina Sofía in Madrid, Serralves in Porto, Rivoli Castle in Turin and Ujazdów Castle in Warsaw.

  4. 2002

    On “heroin chic”

In an interview with The Observer she calls the use of “heroin chic” to sell clothes and perfume reprehensible and evil; critics had accused her of making heroin look glamorous. She herself admits that in her youth she had a romantic notion of being a junkie, but soon saw the error of that ideal.
