Über die Skulptur

This work by Kato Tsubusa was exhibited in spring 2011 at Tajimi's highly regarded Gallery VOICE. It represents an important development in Kato's work that draws on his recent experience of working with glass. It consists of two stalks of qingbai-glazed porcelain planted in a block of crazed glass still partially adhered to the clay mould in which it was cast. It is an abstract take on the concept of a floral display for the tearoom, the exhibition in which it was exhibited having been devoted to tea wares by leading Japanese makers.
