    In spring 1982 the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York holds a retrospective of Paik’s work, curated by John G. Hanhardt.

    Returns to South Korea

    After nearly 35 years of exile from his homeland he returns to South Korea. From the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s he plays an integral role in Korea’s art scene: he organizes exhibitions, introduces Cage, Cunningham and Beuys to the public, helps bring the 1993 Whitney Biennial to Seoul and takes part in founding the Gwangju Biennale and the Korea Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
