Über das Werk
Thomas Jones (1742-1803) stayed in Rome and Naples from 1776 to 1783. He wrote his Memoirs while he was there. They remain our best source of information about the artists, patrons and connoisseurs in Italy at the time. Although he painted watercolour landscapes, Jones is better known today for his oil sketches.
