Imens i livet hos Berenice Abbott
Hele livet1940s and 1950s
Science photography away from the public eye
She works away from the attention of the wider public: her main occupation is photographing physical and chemical processes, and to understand them better she takes chemistry courses. The scientific community greets her work with scepticism, and she believes she is a victim of sexism; other accounts say science photography occupied her until the 1960s.
1958
Joins an MIT commission on school curricula
In 1958 she is included in a commission of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology created to improve the school education curriculum.
1963–1964
“A Vision of Paris” and “The World of Atget” appear
In 1963 she provides the photographs for “A Vision of Paris”, and in 1964 her book “The World of Atget” appears; she also publishes the portfolio “Twenty Photographs” and writes essays. Her sustained efforts help Atget gain international recognition.
