Her pictures in other people's films
In “Working Girls” (1986) the photographs attributed to the heroine Molly are Goldin's; in Mary Harron's “I Shot Andy Warhol” (1996) she is credited with “special photography”. The photographs of the heroine of Lisa Cholodenko's “High Art” (1998) are based on her work.
1991
Tiffany Foundation award and DAAD residency in Berlin
She receives a Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Award and takes part in the DAAD Artists-in-Residence program in Berlin; the book “The Other Side” (Die andere Seite, 1993) is tied to that program.

Curates “From Desire: A Queer Diary”
At the Richard F. Brush Art Gallery at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, Goldin's second curated show presents David Armstrong, Robert Mapplethorpe, David Wojnarowicz, Zoe Leonard and others.

“Tokyo Love” with Nobuyoshi Araki
A joint book with the Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki is published in Tokyo; the English edition follows in 1995.
from 1995
New subjects: landscapes, water, family life
From 1995 her work takes in a collaborative book with Araki, New York City skylines and uncanny landscapes, people (notably in water), her lover Siobhan, and then babies, parenthood and family life. Her photographs move from scenes of dangerous youthful abandon to family life in ever more varied settings around the world.
1996
Retrospective “I'll Be Your Mirror” at the Whitney
The Whitney Museum of American Art stages her retrospective “I'll Be Your Mirror”; the show then travels to Wolfsburg, Amsterdam (Stedelijk Museum), Winterthur, Vienna (Kunsthalle Wien) and Prague (National Museum).
