Imens i livet hos Lovis Corinth

Hele livet
  1. 1887

A Winter in Berlin, New Acquaintances

Moving to Berlin for the winter, he met Max Klinger, Walter Leistikow, and Karl Stauffer-Bern; it was most likely there that he painted his first self-portrait.

  2. 1888

Adoption of the Name "Lovis Corinth"

Returning to Königsberg after his Parisian disappointments, the artist adopted the name "Lovis Corinth."

  3. 10 January 1889

    Death of His Father

The artist's gravely ill father died; before his death Corinth had painted several portraits of him.

  4. 1890

Paris Salon Award for the "Pietà"

The painting "Pietà" ("Descent from the Cross"), submitted to the Paris Salon, received an award; encouraged by the success, Corinth moved back to Munich in 1891.
