This boxwood relief is probably German from teh 19th century.
It represents Saint Mary Magdalene. The saint is depicted full-length, almost in profile, turned to the right. She is fully clothed, wearing a corset or girdle over her dress, and a bonnet, and holds a pot of oil in her right hand and the lid in her left. It is adapted from Dürer's engraving of the nude figure of Nemesis (1501-3) The relief bears the initials 'I.D.', but the frame is inscribed on the reverse 'Benvenuto Cellini'.
