Life in the La Ruche artists’ colony
From 1908 to 1914 Archipenko lived in the international artists’ colony La Ruche in Paris. Among its residents were émigré Ukrainian artists: Wladimir Baranoff-Rossine, Sonia Delaunay-Terk and Nathan Altman.
1910–1911
Cubism in three dimensions: the Salons of 1910–1911
Together with the French-Hungarian sculptor Joseph Csaky, Archipenko exhibited at the first public manifestations of Cubism in Paris — the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon d’Automne of 1910 and 1911 — becoming, after Pablo Picasso, the first to employ the Cubist style in three dimensions.

First solo exhibition in Hagen
In 1912 Archipenko’s first solo exhibition was held at the Karl Ernst Osthaus Museum in Hagen, Germany.

Teaches at his own art school in Paris
From 1912 to 1914 Archipenko taught at his own art school in Paris.
1913
The Armory Show in New York
Four of Archipenko’s Cubist sculptures, including “Family Life”, and five of his drawings appeared in the controversial Armory Show of 1913. The works were caricatured in the New York World.
