Hele livet

  2. 1879–1882

    Travels in England

From 1879 to 1882 Bastien-Lepage travels in England.

  3. 1880–1883

  4. 1883

By 1883 a critic says everyone paints like Bastien-Lepage

Bastien-Lepage’s fame is such that by 1883 a critic remarks that so many artists now paint in his manner that he seems to paint like everyone. His en plein air scenes of peasant life strongly influence many artists abroad, among them George Clausen in England and Tom Roberts in Australia.

In 1883 Bastien-Lepage is made a Knight of the Order of Leopold; the same year he paints the portrait of Mme J. Drouet.
