A house and studio in Southampton
In the late 1960s the couple rented a house in Southampton that Larry Rivers had bought around the corner from his own, and in 1970 Lichtenstein bought a 1910 carriage house facing the ocean on Long Island. He built a studio there, spent the rest of the 1970s in relative seclusion, and split his time between Manhattan and Southampton until his death.
