Andreini brings his paintings to Florence
The Florentine collector Pietro Andrea Andreini, after visiting Naples, brings back to Florence a small group of Giordano's works, among them “Apollo and Marsyas” (now in the Museo Bardini), which spreads the artist's fame in the city.

A biographical account of Giordano is compiled
The “Relatione della vita di Luca Giordano pittore celebre” (“Account of the life of the famous painter Luca Giordano”; Florence, National Central Library) appears; some scholars think Giordano wrote it himself. It shows that in Rome his paintings were little appreciated, perhaps because they differed so fundamentally from Roman Baroque.
