Imens i livet hos Gino Severini

Hele livet
  1. by 1920

The Golden Section and the “return to order”

After abandoning Futurism following the war, he paints in a synthetic Crystal Cubist style until 1920, and by 1920 applies theories of classical balance based on the Golden Section to still lifes and subjects from the commedia dell’arte, becoming part of the post-war “return to order”. After 1920 he divides his time between Paris and Rome.

  2. 1921

“From Cubism to Classicism” is published

He publishes Du cubisme au classicisme: Esthétique du compas et du nombre (From Cubism to Classicism: The Aesthetics of the Compass and Number), summing up his research into mathematical theories of harmony and proportion.

  3. 1923–1929

Rome Biennales and Novecento shows in Milan and Geneva

He takes part in the Rome Biennale in 1923 and 1925, exhibits with the artists of the Novecento Italiano group in Milan in 1926 and 1929 and in their Geneva exhibition of 1929.
