Imens i livet hos Alfred Stieglitz

Hele livet
  1. 1934

    Credo: “straight” photography without tricks

In 1934 Stieglitz explained: “Personally I like my photography straight, unmanipulated, devoid of all tricks; a print not looking like anything but a photograph, living through its own inherent qualities and revealing its own spirit.”

  2. 1936

One of the first Ansel Adams exhibitions

In 1936 Stieglitz briefly returned to his photographic roots by mounting one of the first exhibitions of Ansel Adams's photographs in New York City; the show was a success, and David McAlpin bought eight of them.

  3. 1937

    Heart disease ends his photography

In 1937 Stieglitz gave up photography because of serious heart disease; he continued to run An American Place until his death.

  4. 1938

One of the first Eliot Porter shows

In 1938 Stieglitz put on one of the first shows of Eliot Porter's photographs.
