Hele livet1568
In the service of Claude Gouffier and his wife
By 1568 Clouet lived in Paris in the rue Sainte-Avoye in the Temple quarter, close to the Hôtel de Guise, and is known to have been under the patronage of Claude Gouffier de Boisy, Seigneur d’Oiron, and his wife Claude de Baune.
1570–1572
Banners for the king’s trumpets and armour designs
In 1570–1572 he was paid for two banners for the king’s trumpets and for designs for the decoration of armour.
1571
An opinion on a portrait struck on a coin
In 1571 he was summoned to the Court of the Mint and asked how closely a portrait struck by the mint resembled the king; his name is mentioned for the last time as a consultant on coins.
1572
A will naming his sister and two illegitimate daughters
Clouet dies shortly after the massacre of St Bartholomew; his will survives, naming his sister and his two illegitimate daughters and disposing of a considerable amount of property. He never married, and his daughters later became nuns.
